**Celebrating the Life of Jaunis Quashie-Yeates**

Jaunis Quashie-Yeates, affectionately known to some as Grandma, passed away on August 7, 2025, at the age of 77. Jaunis was born on January 14, 1948, in Mt. St. George, Tobago, to parents Jane and Lewis Quashie.

Personal note from Your daughter, Nesta

Tribute to My Mother
“You’re loved when you’re born, you’re loved when you die, and in between, you have to manage.” — Gaur Gopal Das. My mother managed the in-between of her life the best way she knew how.
Our journey together was not without its storms. We faced many trials, and there were seasons where the distance between us felt wide. Yet, in God’s grace, there was also love, although complicated, it was real. I carry both the lessons and the scars, knowing they assisted in shaping the woman I am today.
Mother, you would often say to me, how much you loved speaking with me because I reminded you so much of yourself. (Your dream was to gain a law degree, but you ended up with three degrees instead- Wayne, Wendy and Nesta.) But you, my daughter, you dared to dream and dream big, you were my wild child, dancing in the rain and taking outrageous chances. However, my mum, you played it safe and held it steady in your comfort zone, whilst caring for those who needed you.
Today, I scream, "You are truly missed." None will fill the space you left behind because you, my dear mother, were beautifully and wonderfully made. With warmth in my heart, I choose to stand in gratitude for the life you gave me, for the faith you instilled, and for the knowledge of the unshakable truth that God’s love covers us all.
Rest now, Mum. Your battles are over. May you find the peace you always sought, in the arms of the One who is, the Way, the Truth and the Life. And as I continue to walk my path, I will hold fast to your words now etched in me: “Let God be true, and every man a liar.”
Your Baby Girl, Nesta Lucille
