I'm so sorry for your loss.  When I joined the CSE/ISE team, Jason was so incredibly welcoming.  He was a fantastic teammate and co-engineering lead.  I appreciated his passion for our team, our technology and our customers.  He'll be missed!

I was so saddened to hear about the passing of my friend and neighbor, Jason Short. He was an incredibly kind person and was always the first to lend a helping hand. I'll never forget the time he spent teaching me about motorcycle maintenance. He was the reason I finally felt confident enough to start working on my own bike. I'm so grateful for his friendship and for everything he taught me. He will be deeply missed.

Jason was one of the biggest reasons my first project at work went so smoothly. Never mind the fact that he had so much knowledge and experience, but he was happy to share those with others and make them feel included. During a work trip to Australia he bought the entire team koalas that hung to the side of your screen. He didn’t have to do that but he did, and I always remember him when I look at my koala. The world is a worse place without him in it. My hugest condolences to his friends and family.

I was deeply saddened to hear about Jason’s passing. I truly enjoyed working with him—he was not only incredibly kind and thoughtful, but also brought so much joy to those around him. His fun stories and contagious laugh could brighten even the busiest days. He’ll be greatly missed, and I feel fortunate to have had the chance to work alongside him.

My heart was broken when I heard this sad news. I know I lost a good friend, a good teammate, and one of the nicest people I have ever known.

I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to work and fight with Jason on some of the most challenging projects. We built strong partnership and trust on each other through those difficult days and hours on these projects. He is always energized, fun to talk with, and making the collaboration with him so easy and enjoyable.

I will miss you, Jason.

Jason was the most thoughtful and honest person, never with any agenda except to support the people around him. I’ve always admired how he went out of his way to support others, far beyond his job responsibilities. He just cared about people and doing whatever it took to help them.

As a software engineer, his curiosity was inspiring. No problem was too large for Jason, and he rallied the people around him to solve those tough problems.

I just spoke with Jason a few weeks ago, and we were going back and forth on chat. He was reading my book, and I was looking forward to reading his. I see he did get it published, and I’ve got it ordered now. I wish I could celebrate with him, but I will enjoy his words and story.

Celeste, Maya, and Dana, I will keep you in my prayers. Know that your husband and father positively impacted so many lives around the world. We will miss him.

I learned a lot from Jason over the seven years I had the privilege of knowing him.

I haven’t met too many people like Jason in my life. He was such a genuine, smart, and generous person.

Always giving his time to others and making sure everyone around him was doing okay. He had a unique ability to make you feel seen and you just couldn’t help but have fun with the guy.

Jason was an incredible father, husband, and human being. He will be terribly missed and if I can be 10% of the man Jason was, I will be happy with that.

I am so sorry, words are not enough, but I had the honor to work with Jason, and it was always a pleasure to talk with him. He will be deeply missed, and the world lost an amazing soul and brilliant engineer.

Ten years ago, Jason welcomed me into my first role at Microsoft. I remember being so nervous and feeling so out of place at my interview, after having flown to a new city. Then seeing his genuine smile as he took notes and explained how the process would work.

Then, came my first day, almost ten years ago exactly, now. I - having previously interned only at financial firms on the east coast - showed up in slacks and a button down. Jason did a great job of introducing me to the west coast - retrieving me from orientation in his sandals and cargo shorts! He took me under his wing and made my summer absolutely amazing. From teaching me how to get around, to reminding me to take off my badge when I leave work, to getting me hooked up with cool tech to tinker with and inspire me (Windows phones! Microsoft bands!!), to making sure I know I didn't have to stay past midnight working on a funky little ml plugin for vs, to taking me on walks around the green campus and checking in to make sure I settled in okay and wanted to come back. And when my parents came to visit to see the campus and my new cool internship, he came down to the cafe in building 9 and sat with us all and chatted over lunch just so they'd feel a little more comfortable with me being so far away. My parents and I were so touched, and we still are.

Jason was absolutely amazing. One of the most beautiful souls I have ever met. My birthday buddy. He really cared about people.

I wish I had spent more time with him.

My deepest condolences go to his family. Celeste - he spoke of you often, and his genuine happiness and excitement about everything was always so infectious. Maya and Dana - I got to hear about you too! He was so proud of the both of you.

❤️ Tess

It was an honor and priviledge working with Jason for several years here at Microsoft - he was always a joy to talk to, go on business trips with, and geek out over any number of fun things. He is truly going to be missed.
My most sincere condolences to Jason's family and friends.  The Microsoft ISE team will greatly miss Jason and the energy that he brought to the team.
Jason was the best kind of person. I've never witnessed anyone strive so hard to always do the right thing, whether it was for someone on his team or a complete stranger. Rest in peace, friend. You were too good for this earth.
I was [ overwhelmed when I heard the news of Jason's passing. I never met him in person but known about him from his father, my cousin. I 🙏 for his family in this terrible time.  My  own loss of a son reveals my sympathy  and the message that it will get better but it is a process. Please remember all the good times and his virtues.   Hold his memory close. My sincere condolences.
I was fortunate enough to have known Jason, and he radiated so much goodness and warmth that I have never experienced before. Jason made a huge impact not only just in my career but also as an individual. He spoke highly of always his family and shared so many stories that were always equally funny but uplifting. He will be missed terribly but I pray every day he is at a place where there is nothing but peace and happiness.  My deepest condolences to the family and sending all my love and prayers to your way.
My condolences to Jason's family. I first met Jason when he was visiting his dad  Mike Short and Debbie .
Our deepest condolences to you all during this difficult time.

When Jason spoke, you wanted to listen.

Jason had, what seemed like, endless amazing stories. He recount experiences that were interesting and humorous. The life he had was awe inspiring.

Not far away from the stories about his life, were stories about Celeste, Dana and Maya. Awe inspiring stories about them as individuals. He lifted them up at every opportunity he had. The love they gave him will cover lifetimes.

Jason was a terrific “figure-out-er”. From fixing a bike from the ground up to publishing a book, he could figure it out!
