Background
Thank you for your consideration in helping our family with the costs of traveling to Joshua Tree National Park to spread our dad's ashes in a special way. Our family is grateful for the support of a caring community through this difficult time.
It is a secret to no one that my dad loved the band U2. And I’m sure it’s impossible for a lot of you, as well as myself, to hear a U2 song and not think of him. This band’s music was a constant in our house. My siblings and I danced around the basement while my dad played Where the Streets Have no Name, Pride, or Electric Co. riffs on his guitar. We had so many U2 pictures hung up around our house that I actually grew up thinking Bono and Edge were my uncles.
The last U2 concert I got to go to with my dad was in 2017. It was the Joshua Tree 30th Anniversary Tour and they played that album in its entirety. Joshua Tree came out when my dad was just shy of 16 years old. And this last concert was an opportunity for us kids to cheer and sing along to the songs he first heard and fell in love with when he was only a kid too. It’s an experience I’m eternally grateful for. Which is why it only makes sense that my dad’s final trip be to Joshua Tree National Park where we can spread his ashes, say our goodbyes, and of course, listen to some U2. Contribute
