Jaren's obituary

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Jaren L. Tilley, who left us far too soon on November 16, 2024, at the age of 33.

Jaren’s unexpected passing has left an immeasurable void in our lives. He will always be deeply loved and forever missed.

Born with a naturally kind soul, Jaren was known for his heart of gold, big smile, and a “good” joke for everyone he met.

He will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Danette Lykins of Yakima, and his father, James Micheal Reynolds of Olympia. He also leaves behind his siblings, Jessica Lykins (and Antonio), Dylan Lykins (and Myranda), and James Reynolds Jr.

Jaren’s memory will be cherished by his grandmother, Kathryn Briggs; grandfather, Gary (and Judy) Tilley; his loving aunt, Mandie (and Chance) Dolezal; grandmother, Roberta “Bobbie” Reynolds; uncle, Mark (and Jaime) Reynolds.

He was a devoted uncle to his nephews, Liam and Mason, and niece, Lucy. Jaren also leaves behind a large extended family and a host of friends, including his “brothers,” Jovan and Kris, who will miss him greatly.

He is preceded in death by his stepfather, Mason Lykins, and stepmother, Carmen Reynolds, both of whom passed in 2022.

After graduating from Eisenhower High School in 2009, Jaren proudly joined the U.S. Navy in 2011. His adventurous spirit later led him to Vancouver, WA, where he worked at Ecolube Recovery oil refinery. Eventually, he returned to Yakima to be close to his family and friends.

Jaren’s accomplishments included Navy training, flight lessons, and becoming a skilled and respected diesel mechanic.

He loved going to the movies, spending time with friends, hosting barbecues and bonfires, camping, 4-wheeling, and playing video games. A natural with kids, he cherished time spent with his niece, nephews, and the honorary nieces and nephews he cared for through his close friendships.

A car enthusiast, Jaren took great pride in working on his Camaro and enjoyed collecting vehicles to “fix” or tinker with. Known for his funny, caring, intelligent, and goofy personality, he was always the first to offer a helping hand to anyone in need.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, contributions to assist with funeral and service expenses would be greatly appreciated. Donations can be made through the following:
