Every once in a while, a person comes into your life and fills it with grace, joy and wonderment. And if you are lucky, you get to see this person go from a child to a boy to a man always growing, striving, achieving, loving the world and all around him. And if you are very lucky, this person is your Grandson. Jared loved our ranch, never failing to say "What can I help you with?" Jared came to help Papa cut dowm the big oak, learning to use chain saws and wood splitters. And, then, helped to deliver wood to families who needed wood to stay warm in winter. He carefully placed big rocks next to the Killdeer nest to protect the tiny babies hatched on the ground. He was thoughtful and kind in every way. He called to say "Nana, I am going on a walk. If you stay on the phone, you can go with me. I will send pictures of what I see so you can know what  I am seeing. He, also never failed to say ""Nana, did you get avacados?" We love you, Jared. You are in our hearts, forever.
Sending heartfelt condolences to Jared's family and many loved ones. I met Jared for the first time at a DEIB Committee dinner (I'm not a committee member, but they very kindly invited me along) at the IOA conference this last April. He and I happened to be walking together on the way back from the dinner to the hotel. He kindly introduced himself and struck-up a conversation. He was sincere, welcoming, kind, lively, curious, smart, and full of light and joy. I was so impressed and inspired. Such a short time together, but he was so memorable. I feel blessed to have met him. I'm so sorry for the world's loss. I know his light continues to radiate with all who knew him and as he continues his journey.

This excerpt from a Maya Angelou poem seems appropriate at this terribly sad moment. I treasured knowing and working with Jared. My prayers are with Jared's Mom, Dad, Sisters and the many, many others who mourn his loss.  May the faith that was such an important part of his life help you through...

When Great Trees Fall

When great souls die,

after a period, peace blooms,

slowly and always

irregularly. Spaces fill

with a kind of

soothing electric vibration.

Our senses, restored, never

to be the same, whisper to us.

They existed. They existed.

We can be. Be and be

better. For they existed.

I am so sad to hear of Jared's passing. His light shined brightly and he will be sorely missed. My heart-felt condolences to Jared's family and friends.
My deepest condolences and prayers to the Lee family, Jared's friends and colleagues.  Jared was ambitious, bright, curious and kind. I sincerely appreciate his willingness to volunteer in multiple capacities within the International Ombuds Association and his eagerness to learn more about our profession. He did not shy away from having the hard conversations and exploring ways we can make things better. We will miss your light Jared and we will continue you legacy .
Jared's kind, gentle, and thoughtful presence was always in the room at IOA.   He made a big impact in a very short time.   Our hearts are heavy at IOA.  My sincere condolences to the Lee Family - may you find peace in your journey and comfort in your many memories.

Jared epitomizes generosity. He entered spaces never questioning his equality with others and their equality with him. I am so glad our paths crossed through work in student affairs at Pepperdine, and as classmates at Straus. I will miss his kind seriousness and dry humor. I can't image how you miss him, when I am stunned by his loss from the edges. Prayers for you all.
The family pictures that Roger has shared with his pickleball community, demonstrated the love this family has.  And Jared was a part of that.  May the memories (and pictures) your family has of your son be comforting at this sad time.  Prayers.
Words just never seem to convey enough solace in moments like this. I truly hope that the Lee Family, and all that knew Jared, find some peace and comfort in memories of him.  I did not get to know Jared long enough to learn of his faith (only just learning of his faith as I read about him) but I'm reminded of passage from scripture of a mansion, with many rooms. I'd like to believe that those that leave this world too, too early are in that mansion, preparing a space for those they love. Godspeed Jared.
