Kekaha Beach, Kekaha, HI, USA

Today marks 4yrs since you been gone. 4ever loved and never forgotten.  Remembering all the late night fishing trips down the beach, cruzing with everyone, simply enjoying life. Singing country songs,  under the moon and stars, (incase you didn't know) by Brett young.

I got a notification of someone sharing a story about Jackie and it inspired me to do the same. I don’t know if I’ve properly grieved (whatever that means) Jackie’s death for a number of reasons but I believe that it is so important to remember. To speak her name. Share her stories. Our stories. So, that’s what I’ll do, we have a lot.

She moved down the street from me when I was about 11 or 12 years old and from the first time we hung out, we became best friends. I pretty much lived at her house for the next 4 years or so until the Mccalls moved back to Texas. A story that comes to mind is when we took her dad’s car (neither of us had a license) and drove to the stop and shop down the street and the only thing we got was a can of tuna. We did it for the thrill of it. We spent an endless amount of time in her room dancing to I believe in a thing called love, crazy game of poker and whatever else let us jump around like wild child’s in her room.  Jackie is one of the most playful, funny and wild people I’ve ever known and she made and continues to make my life fuller. I think of her whenever I go out to the water to surf in the cold waters of Maine. I think of her when I’m running and feel like I don’t have any more left in me, her strength and drive keeps me going. Jackie was kind to everyone, she didn’t care where you came from, what you did, what you had. She just loved purely and completely. I miss her terribly. Her laughter, her weird voices she would do. The way we would say goodbye like Napoleon Dynamite… “K, cya.” Never goodbye, I love her so much and if any of the McCall family sees or reads this, I love you all and hold you close to my heart, always.

At Emily’s house I performed the floating rose magic trick for her.

When I worked at the Hyatt I was attracted to her looks and personality. She was also a scuba instructor so she must have known a lot of adventurous people. I asked her on a date to the Kauai County fair (August 2018) while on the clock. I got in trouble lol! The union representative said Domi (Domee), if you ask a girl out and she says ok that’s fine, but if you ask her out and she says no, it’s not fine to ask her out again lol. I resigned from the Hyatt and applied, a second time, for the military.

We love and miss you soooo much Jackie. I can’t believe it’s been 3 years today. Not a minute goes by that I don’t think of you. Can’t wait to see you again, sis 💙

Jackie is missed and in hearts of all that were blessed to know her.

" In these moments of heartbreaking grief, remember the only reason we have an empty space is because we were blessed with someone who loved us so beautifully it occupied an entire part of our soul." Author unknown

This is probably 1996 at the kitchen table in Houston. We all love and will miss her forever.
Happy Heavenly Birthday Jackie.  You are missed and loved!

The first time we met was on the elevator she had long brown hair and a collared shirt. The moment we seen each other I felt like I knew her. We walked the halls looking at each other not saying a word. By the time we got to the end of the hall where i part  to tidepools and she goes to the pool I told myself say something, I awkwardly said have a great day. 7 years later with Dante driving me nuts clawing me jumping all over the bed I look in her closet and see this collard shirt poking out . I looked at her she had tears in her eyes I told her I’ve been looking for you I’ve waited at that elevator hoping to see you for months. She said I think we are soulmates. This is the short version.

Beautiful sisters and my friends, Jackie and Lena — with Lena McCall
I met Jackie through my daughter, Lindsey Lee-Hornstine. They worked at SeaSport Dive Shop together. She became Lindsey's dear friend. She took control and helped organize Lindsey's list of things to do before her wedding. She pitched in with every detail with her Jackie class. Making everyone comfortable and only pitching in where help was needed.

Last time I saw Jackie was exactly a year ago. We were enjoying each other's company at the Poipu Athletic club watching both her dear friends daughters play in the pool ( Lindsey and Bonnie's daughters , Kamoana and Emmy.) She was a beloved friend and Auntie. I always felt comfortable in her presence. So happy I could enjoy her friendship with my daughter. Jackie forever has a place in my heart

I had the pleasure of diving with Jackie through her years on Kaua'i. She took this photo when we all had the privilege of diving Niihau during the shutdown and the Anthias were spawning. She said that there were so many Jacks because she was there!! I loved her dearly, she brought such Joy in my life! Mahalo sweet Mermaid.
To all who loved my daughter Jackie,

You brought some joy inside my tears. Aloha and God bless you.

Linda
