Jackie's obituary

Jaqilyn Lee “Jackie” Newberry (née Cole), age 78, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2025, in Sarasota, Florida. Born on August 30, 1946, in Dayton, Ohio, Jackie lived a life filled with love, laughter, and deep devotion to her family and faith. Jackie’s journey was one of warmth and generosity. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life—gathering with loved ones for BBQs and family get-togethers, attending work picnics and costume contests, and embracing every opportunity to make memories. Whether it was a trip to a theme park or a spontaneous shopping outing, Jackie brought energy and fun wherever she went. Her adventurous spirit shone brightly during motorcycle rides with her beloved partner Bert. In her later years, she found delight in scratch-off tickets, cozy movie nights, and spending cherished time with her daughter Tammy. Holidays were especially meaningful to Jackie; they were times when generations came together under one roof to celebrate the bonds that meant so much to her. Jackie’s love for her grandchildren—Shane (Venecia), Shaylyn (Patrick), and Shelby—was boundless. She took great pride in watching them grow and thrive. Her great-grandchildren—Bryce, Gracie, Mariah, Maleena, Ryder, Makinley, and Braxton—brought her immeasurable joy. She especially treasured watching Gracie play softball and cheering her on from the sidelines. Jackie also shared a special connection with her nieces and nephews who held a dear place in her heart. A woman of deep faith, Jackie gave her life to Christ early on. As a child, she attended church on Wednesday nights with her brothers—a tradition that laid the foundation for a lifelong spiritual journey. Later in life, she introduced both her daughter and grandchildren to the Lord, continuing the legacy of faith within her family. Jackie’s home was always open to laughter and love—and often filled with the happy sounds of dogs at her feet or children playing nearby. Her caring nature touched everyone around her; she was known for being dedicated and giving. Those who knew Jackie will remember not only how deeply she loved but how fully she lived. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and connection through those who survive her: her partner Bert; daughter Tammy; grandchildren Shane (Venecia), Shaylyn (Patrick), and Shelby; great-grandchildren Bryce, Gracie, Levi, Mariah, Maleena, Ryder, Makinley, and Braxton; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who adored their Aunt Jackie. Jackie Newberry will be missed beyond measure by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will continue to inspire joy and strength in those she loved so dearly. Until we see you again, Grandma. ❤️ A Celebration of Life will be held on June 12, 2025, from 06:00 PM to 07:30 PM at The Bridge Church 4000 75th St W
