I was one of Janiya's teachers and had the true joy of getting to know her over the last several years.
Janiya was a good friend to her classmates and was cared for by her teachers.
She persevered and continued to try through out class, even if she was unsure of herself at times.

Janiya was one of my math students at Westwood Middle! She had an infectious joy to those around her with her silliness. I had twins the year she was in my room and we shared experiences with her new twin siblings. Janiya had great goals for her life, so this is a very sad time indeed. My thoughts and prayers go to her loving family.
