It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Janis Marion Oates on August 24th, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. 

Janis was born on September 26th, 1948. Throughout her life she was known for her warmth, wit, unwavering kindness and infectious laugh. Janis is survived by her husband Doug, her son Clayton (Lindsay) and her three grandsons, Oliver, Thomas and Winston. The boys loved their Grandma very much and we will always tell them of how much their Grandma Jan loved them so. Clayton and his sons were the light of her life and constant sources of laughter and love. 

Jan had a special gift for friendship. Her circle of friends really were her chosen family and she cherished them deeply.  Together, they shared countless memories, good times and support that brightened her life and the lives of those around her. The stories of the parties at the house on 11th ave will go on forever. 

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff at Burnaby General Hospital and Abbotsford Hospice for the care, comfort and dignity they provided to Jan in her treatment and final days. 

Jan will be remembered for her generous heart, her strength and the love she had for her family & friends. We miss her deeply. 

A Celebration of Life will be held for Jan at 3pm on November 1st, 2025, at the Alan Emmett Center in Burnaby. Please email Lindsay at linzz.campbell@gmail.com if you are planning on attending so we can plan food & drink accordingly.  All are welcome that want to honour Jan and remember her wonderful life.  Also, if you have any photos for the slideshow, please email them to Lindsay.
