Janie Vecchio Magness, age 53, left this world surrounded by her daughters on February 7, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas. She was born on July 23, 1973, in Denver, Colorado.
Janie was preceded in death by her father, Tomas Vecchio, and her beloved partner, Daniel Gregorcyk, who passed in 2025 after a brave battle with cancer. Their relationship was a cherished part of her life and brought her joy.
She is survived by her daughters, Bryhana Vecchio (Donnie), Miranda Magness (Joe), and Daphne Magness, who were her greatest pride. They cared for her while she was in hospice care and shared many special moments.
She is also remembered by her mother, Janie Vecchio; her siblings, Rene, Tina, Maria and Tony; and her treasured grandchildren, Michael, Ava, and Mackenzie, who knew her affectionately as “Ya-Ya.”
Janie graduated from Abernathy High School and carried a strong, independent spirit throughout her life. She had a creative spirit and found peace and happiness in crafting, often expressing her love through the things she made.
She shared a special bond with her loyal dog, Buddy, who remained faithfully by her side until she was no longer able to care for him. Their companionship brought her comfort and unconditional love.
Above all, Janie was a mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She was loved and left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. Her laughter, strength, and resilience will be missed.
In honoring her wishes, Janie was cremated. The family will hold a private graveside memorial at a later date.
