Even in the short time we knew Janice, she welcomed us with a warmth and kindness that made us feel like family. She had a rare charm about her, and it was clear she was a genuinely kindhearted and selfless person who truly cared for others. We feel grateful to have known her, and she will be deeply missed.

I started working with Janice when she was the Relief Society President of her ward.  I was always amazed at Janice's bright, fun disposition even when dealing with hard things.  Janice was aware of the women she served and aware of how to meet their needs.  Janice struggled with her own health as she served these women, but she would not let up on her responsibilities,  her concern for the sisters in her ward and she did it with a smile.

I also saw Janice serve her sweet father as he got to the point that he needed more help.   Again she loved him and served him with a smile and gratitude for her father.

I am grateful for the example of Janice's smile, sweet service to others and happy outlook on life.  I am sure she will continue to be of sweet service to her family from the other side of the veil.

We loved coming to visit you and Tyler, and your dad when he was still alive, every month.  Janice was such a sweetheart, and sometimes a real "kick" of a gal.  She loved her dogs too! We could feel & tell that she really loved us, as well.  We will really miss you & your great spirit but know that memories will live on through your wonderful husband & beautiful children & grandchildren & lots of photos & memories.

I knew Janice for a short time ,  but I witnessed her sparkle & energetic spirit whenever I was around her.  Knowing her mom & dad gave me even more insight into what a loving relationship  existed between them.

Having Jon & Christine as friends for years only increased my admiration for your entire family.  Janice will be missed but I’m sure will always influence those who have known her.

I was so saddened at the loss of sweet Janice. We loved her and the Hales family. May God bless you with comfort and Peace.

Janice, is my first cousin. Our mother’s were sisters. Jean and Marlene Lutz.

The memories I have of Janice is when  we were young. When our families would meet and have family gatherings. Our mother’s truly loved each other and loved their families.

Janice is a great example of their love!

Her beautiful daughters, shine because of her love and the kind of person she was.

God bless you, Tyler, I know this is a difficult time, having your Sweetheart pass to the other side of the veil. I believe in eternal families and know Janice will be at your side, when you need her comfort.

I know Janice, touched the lives of so many and will be remembered in wonderful ways.

May memories of her smile, the special times you shared, and the kind of  person was, live in your heart always!

The angels are singing, she is home!

God bless you and your sweet family - Janice is a beautiful tribute to those we love!

Lots and lots of  love, ❤️❤️❤️

Janice lived her life with a smile. Her laughter, kindness, and joyful outlook made the world a better place for everyone. I loved talking about Yosemite with her as that was a special place for both of us to enjoy the beauty of nature and hiking. You will be deeply missed my friend.
A true daughter of Christ and His ways. I am  so grateful I was lucky enough to have met her.  May her memory be a blessing to so many of us.
Thanks for all the fun times,…

When I think of Janice and Tyler, I think of two exemplar human beings that were the epitome of charity, love, and strength. I had the privilege of team teaching a youth Sunday School class with Tyler where he soon became fondly known as the "Ninja".  Janice was the closest version of an angel you could get to in mortality, the only thing missing were the wings. I became more aware of Janice after spending time with Tyler and  Lynn Hales who was his own force of nature. My fondest memory of Janice was attending Girls camp where she was the camp nurse. I loved girls camp and the annual opportunity to be off the grid for an entire week in the Sierras. A perfect time to rejuvenate the soul with great company, great food, and faith renewing experiences. Unfortunately, my experience the year Janice was the camp nurse did not start out well. The first day at camp, I became incredibly ill. The kind of illness that was not conducive to living in a tent out in the wild. Try as I might to soldier on, it was obvious that I was not 100%. I think looking like and feeling like a zombie was a dead giveaway. Janice knew right away that this was a problem. She had me report to the nurses quarters and quarantined me in a room with a comfortable bed, lots of options to hydrate, and direct access to the facilities. Her attention to detail and bedside manner was off the charts. The quarantine idea was a good one, but we soon learned that the curse (aka the flu) was running rampant through camp. Of course I got the blame because I was the first. Janice was very busy that week. Janice was both Mother Teresa and Florence Nightingale all wrapped into one amazing human being, and she never missed a beat. I thank Janice for her compassion and proffessional knowledge and for helping me overcome a very difficult and uncomfortable situation. God bless you Janice. I will never forget you!

Will always miss my wonderful neighbor. Her smile was a great encouragement for us when we moved to a new neighborhood.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your amazing mother. Mrs. Hanamura was such a kind, caring person, and I have such fond memories of spending time with the Hanamura family. I always think of Mrs. Hanamura when I plan my daughters’ birthday parties because she would plan the best birthday party games. I am keeping your family in my prayers.

In preparation for my football season at BYU, Janice became my sparring partner at Tyler’s school.  I outweighed Janice by a 100 pounds, but she kept yelling at me to “kick harder!” Finally, I did kick harder, and she was knocked through a rice-paper wall into Tyler’s karate class.

Everyone looked at us in shock, except Janice who jumped up with a huge smile on her face, grabbed the kicking pad and said, “that one was pretty good.”

Everyone knows ‘that’ smile.  Janice is one of those people who makes everyone around them feel loved.

Janice was such a fun person to be around.  She will be missed by everyone that knew her.  Michael and I wish we could be at the celebration of life but unfortunately we will be traveling.  We send our love to Tyler and the girls.

Janice’s wonderful attitude and sense of humor really inspired our family as we got to know her and Tyler over the years.  So compassionate and gracious. She definitely showed us how to live life to the fullest even as she struggled with her own health. We were so blessed to know her. She will always be an inspiration to us. God bless you all.
