Janice's obituary

Janice Elizabeth Greco (87) passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, January 29, 2024. She was surrounded by her 3 children, Christopher Greco, John Greco, Elizabeth Greco and her brother, Richard Kucharski.

Born in New Bedford, MA on August 25, 1936 to John Kucharksi and Agnes Cejzak, Janice was a force of nature with one of the biggest hearts in the world. She led a purposeful, hard and meaningful life. With a gift of $500 from a physician, she enrolled in nursing school and spent over 50 years excelling in that profession working as an operating room supervisor at Cornell Hospital in New York to a Psychiatric Nurse at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. She married Phillip Greco (deceased) on November 29, 1969 where they spent the early years of their marriage in New York City.

Both Christopher and John were born in New York City and Englishtown, NJ, respectively. Janice was invited to a medical conference in Miami, FL in 1977 and the family relocated to Miami Shores, FL the following year. Elizabeth was the family’s “surprise package” being born when Janice was 47 years old in 1983. It would be only 4 years later where her loving husband succumbed to cancer and passed away in Sept of 1987. Janice worked at Jackson Memorial Hospital and Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, sometimes 16 hour shifts to support her three kids. She was passionate about their receiving private, Catholic school education.

She retired at the age of 72, enjoyed travel, embraced continuous learning attending numerous medical seminars, and often finished an evening with apple martini (or two). She was always generous with her time, money and giving praise.

She is survived by her three children, brother, her daughter-in-law, Desiree Marie Greco, and her grandchildren, Jonathan (16) and Amanda (13).

Janice supported Tunnel to Towers and St Jude’s Hospital. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to these two charitable organizations.

The funeral mass will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 2pm est at St Rose of Lima Catholic Parish, 415 NE 105th, Miami Shores, FL.

Priest: Father Luis Perez

May God bless, Janice. Rest in Peace.
