Janice's obituary
Janice "Grandma Jan" Kotch, born March 29, 1938, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2025 at UPMC Passavant - McCandless following a period of declining health. She was known affectionately as "Grandma Jan" by those around her.
Janice, a woman of unparalleled warmth, consistently put everyone else's needs ahead of her own. Her caring, nurturing, and giving nature set her apart. She was heart and soul of her family, a beacon of love and selflessness.
Janice loved to play Bingo, a passion she passed down to her beloved children and grandchildren. Such light-hearted moments have been etched in the hearts of her family as precious memories.
Among her numerous life achievements, Janice was notably proud of her committed service at the Mercer Court House. The dedication she brought to her work was a reflection of her devoted nature, and it remained a significant accomplishment throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald E. Kotch. (Nov. 8, 1931- Aug. 19, 1980)
Janice is survived by her brother, Fred Bollinger, her son, James Kotch Sr., and her daughters, Brenda Barkley and Kimberly Kotch. Her grandchildren, Trista Voloshin, James Kotch Jr., Donald Kotch, and Adam Winger fondly remember their Grandmother for her infinite love and warmth. She also has 7 great grandchildren. Her legacy lives on through her loved ones and the memories they cherish.
In the face of loss, we take solace in the fact that Janice's kind spirit and giving nature will continue to inspire and guide us. She may not be present in body, but her spirit forever remains in our hearts.
In accordance with Janice’s wishes, there will be no public service.
