I’m just sadly learning of Jan’s passing a year after the fact.  I worked under her as an English teacher the year Cook MS opened.  What a wonderful blessing she was to the students and faculty of that school!  She created an atmosphere of professionalism, warmth, understanding, and academic excellence. I remember her setting up a weekend retreat so the new faculty could all get to know one another—what a wonderful time we had!  She set the tone for a welcoming environment that spread to the teachers and, therefore, to the students. I’m so sad to learn of her passing.  She was a gem!

Best principal I ever had. I graduated in 1997 and she stayed in touch. I was the type that went to her office to talk and her door was always open. She ended up being my student teacher mentor at Sam Houston and even came to my wedding. She was such a good person, kind soul, positive spirit and uplifting person to be around. I went to the ribbon cutting when they named the junior high after her in 2001, she was so humble and sweet. I always hoped to be a light to others as she was. I can still hear her voice telling me to trust my instincts and do what’s right.
Condolences and huge hugs to the family, she was an incredible person to look up to.

Jan was a very special, dear friend and I treasure the many times we had together. She and FJ and John and Brian were like family to us. I recall Thanksgiving dinners together at our home in Tomball. After FJ died, Jan moved around the corner from me in Old Bridge Lake. My husband, Chuck, had died quite a number of years before. Jan and I took a number of trips together, one to upstate New York and thru New England which was memorable and fun! She had a beautiful singing voice and it was always wonderful to hear her sing a solo in church!
Jan loved her family, FJ, John and Brian and her grandchildren and was so proud of them.
I am grateful to have had such a specially wonderful friend. She will be missed. I picture her being welcomed to her heavenly home and being united with loved ones. ❤️🙏
So many happy memories of time spent with Jan and FJ. Jan sang at our wedding, and FJ married us, and both continued to be a force of love and guidance in our lives. The greatest gift Jan gave me was delivering the eulogy at my mother’s funeral. She, Bev, and Myra Lee were always able to get themselves into and out of a lot of trouble. Our condolences to the Aragon family. How truly blessed we all were to have had Jan in our lives.
A wonderful principal at Cypress Creek. She always supported me in my programs. A great role model, kind and calm. She was a treasure.
Jan.. we'll miss you and you'll be forever in our hearts. We'll always appreciate how you "adopted" Brianna as one of your grandchildren. We will always treasure that. Rest in peace Gran Jan and thank you!
Thinking of the family at this time. At Cypress Creek High School in 1989-90 Jan welcomed and supported me as an exchange teacher from England. She created a wonderful positive educational environment . Totally professional, she inspired and motivated absolutely everyone. She was a warm and caring person that I have never forgotten. A legend. May she rest in peace.

So sorry for your loss Aragon family. Holding you in thoughts and prayers. Lynn and Bruce Samuel and Family.
Jan ("Janice" in her earlier days) and I were life long friends. Growing up together in New Orleans, we met as pre-teens, living in the same neighborhood and attending the same high school. We had MANY fun escapades together. Jan loved coming to visit in my home - especially when my brother, F.J., was there. Through the years, their friendship grew into love, and they married. After their move to Cypress, we exchanged many visits, and we always looked forward to when they would "come home." The last visit I made to see Jan was in2015. We had a most enjoyable day, with Jan giving me a driving tour of
Cypress - which I had not seen in years. I was able to re-visit the church that she and F.J. had served for so many years, and I had a tour of the school that was named in her honor. The very last time that I saw Jan was in July 2015 when she came to Georgia for the wedding of her God-son;s daughter (my grand daughter.) She was lovely and lively as ever. She was my dear friend, sister-in-law, a loving wife and mother, and an outstanding educator. That is how I will always remember her.
Prayers for Jan's family. She was my principal at Cypress Creek in the 90s. From the environment she created to the teachers she hired and the emphasis she put on learning, she definitely helped shape who I am today as an educator. She was a great leader and definitely left her mark on education in Cy-Fair ISD and beyond. She will be missed.
My sorrows for your family. She’ll always be one of my favorite teachers that made a difference for me and had an impact on my life. I think about her often and the things she shared with our classes. Member of the Class of 1974. Sterling Emens
Mrs. Aragon was my American History teacher at Cy-Fair HS in 1969/70. She made the class so interesting by starting with discussions on current events every day. She was a great teacher.

Jan was a beautiful lady and a very special friend. She entrusted me with her support as a friend and teacher at CyFair High School and beyond. Our shared time in CyFair TSTA and the conventions we attended included a very lovely bumble bee ring she purchased that I agreed she "needed" as a reward for attendance. Jan nominated Twitchell and me to membership and initiation in the Aldine chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. We became founding members of the Cypress chapter that followed. As Principal at CyCreek H. S., our friendship continued in and outside of school. My personal and professional lives were blessed by Jan. I thank heaven that she lived. Special love to John, Brian, and their families.
Jan was such a caring and serene woman. Her husband officiated my wedding, and we joked about that several times. I loved her dry sense of humor, especially when she thought about aids she needed for faculty in her office! I’ll leave that idea there. I am blessed to have been part of her faculty at Cy Creek.
I am so sad for this loss yet have nothing but fond memories. It was the honor of my career to spend years working so closely with Jan. We were neighbors in Enchanted Valley and I had known her through district meetings before she came to Cypress Creek HS as principal. She set about changing the culture of the school in such a positive way, and instilled the slogan "just can't hide that Cougar pride." She was instrumental in bringing wonderful, talented staff to foster the learning environment and promote excellence in all areas of the school. For that, staff and students loved her because she showed every day how much she cared about their well-being and achievements. I also loved her and learned from her. When I retired she continued to be my mentor as I joined her in carpooling to Sam Houston and she tutored me in supervising student teachers. Her legacy is long and will continue to endure.
Jan Aragon opened Cook (Junior High) Middle School in 1986. It was an honor to be a part of that experience. She created an environment of “belonging” for every member of the staff. There was a camaraderie in that school that was palpable. We felt like family. I attribute that to Jan’s leadership and genuine love and interest in the faculty and staff. Years later, I had the honor of working in the school named for her.
The Aragons were my beloved neighbors in Enchanted Valley for many years. Jan watched me grow up along with John and Brian. She was a wonderful influence in my decision to be a teacher. I am so glad I was able to go to the dedication of her school namesake and see the family. My prayers are with all of you. Becky Drescher
Jan will be very missed. She was always like another grandmother to me growing up and I cherish those memories I have with her at all of our framily thanksgivings and easters 💖 I love you all so very much and sending you lots of loving and healing vibrations from California 🥰 Heaven gained another beautiful angel to protect you and your family😇
Ms. Aragon was my first Principal! She was an intelligent, caring, personable lady. It was my honor to work for her for two years at Dean Middle School!
