Janet's obituary
Janet Doreen Wankel, 74, of North Aurora, IL, entered into God’s kingdom of natural causes on March 11th, 2023. She was born July 13th, 1948, to Carl and Dorothy Faulkner in Shelbyville, IL.
Janet was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother who is survived by her sons Jeff, Robb, and Mike; her grandchildren Emily, Ethan, Presley, Tessa, Jeris, Alexis, Mackenzie, and Jordyn; brother Ron and sisters Marilyn, Linda, and Debra. Janet was preceded by daughter Kristal Wankel; former spouse James Wankel; parents Carl and Dorothy; and sisters Barbara, and Margery; and brothers David and Carl.
Janet worked many jobs growing up but found her true love as a full-time mother, raising a beautiful loving family. Janet was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan, bleeding red and blue. She was able to celebrate her lifetime wish of watching the Cubs clinch the World Series in 2016. Her other passions included socializing with friends and family, Bingo, game shows, reading, and craft making. Janet was best known for her passion for wreath making which she happily shared with friends and family.
Janet had the personality and natural charisma to make friends no matter the situation, and her smile could light up a room. She was truly a great woman whose impact will be forever felt by her family, that loves her dearly. She was a selfless woman whose passing left an unfillable gap in the hearts of her loved ones. Her ability to sacrifice, provide support, forgiveness, and love will be forever engrained in all she knew.
Janet did not want a memorial service but rather wanted to give of herself even after life, with the final selfless donation of her body to science. Her final ashes shall remain cherished as a family possession, while her soul is now with God in Heaven. Janet will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends that were blessed with the opportunity to know her.
