Background
Anyone who knew Janet knows that ice cream brought her an incredible amount of joy, even in the last few days of her life. At Kirkwood Corners, her home since 2018, the memory care residents' favorite activity before COVID was to end every field trip with a trip to a local ice cream stand. Janet was the most enthusiastic participant of all. I recently discovered she would even sneak ice cream back to her friends who were not well enough to make the bus trip!
Through the years, Janet and her family have donated to larger charities for Alzheimer's research. I think that it would make Janet even happier to act on a more personal level now by treating her current and future friends to ice cream, a true passion of hers. Her life was a gift to all of us, and I hope that her memory will bring happiness to the residents and staff of Kirkwood Corners for a long time by treating them to a sweet, cool treat on the bus ride home.
(The COVID-19 vaccine is being made available to the staff and residents of Kirkwood this week, so all are hopeful to resume the field trips as soon as possible.) Contribute
