Janet's obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Janet Grannis on May 7, 2023. Born on February 26, 1953, she leaves behind a loving family and a legacy of strength, love, and dedication. Janet is survived by her daughters, Michelle Grannis Lagrave and Myleah Grannis, her son-in-law Herve Lagrave, and her grandchildren, Anaya and Bastien Lagrave, her sister Ronee Anderson and sister-in-law Kathy Grannis. She was predeceased by her mother, Doris Grannis Maring, and her brother, Terry Grannis.

Janet graduated from Everett High School in 1971 and went on to adopt her daughter Michelle in July 1984 and then Myleah in 1987 from India. She embraced the challenges of being a single mother, raising her two children with love and resilience. Janet was a proud attendee of New Life Church, a dedicated part of the congregation for more than four decades, truly cherishing her “church family”. She also volunteered at The Cancer Center in Everett to help other breast cancer patients along their journey.

Known for her fierce personality and belief in justice, Janet was a loyal friend and defender of the weak and innocent. In her free time, she enjoyed various activities such as scrapbooking, watching HGTV, and spending time around a fire on the beach roasting marshmallows. She loved collecting seashells in Grayland, vacationing in Europe, and visiting her favorite local spot, Mukilteo Beach, with her close group of friends.

Janet cared deeply about people and was inspired by her faith, shown through her favorite book, the Bible, and her love for Karen Carpenter, Michael W. Smith, The Beach Boys, Gospel, and The Gaithers' music. She had a fondness for Chicken wings, Watermelon, and Diet Coke, and enjoyed watching The Golden Girls and cheering on The Seahawks.

In her lifetime, Janet was fortunate enough to travel extensively throughout Europe, reaching as far as the tip of the African continent to the shores of Morocco and way up north to London. Over the years she went several times to Spain, Switzerland, Paris, the South of France, and Germany. In her younger years, she cherished her travels with her mother and brother especially Hawaii and New York City.

Janet's impact on her community was immense, and her strong, loving personality left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her legacy will be remembered as one of loyalty, friendship, and unwavering love for her family and friends. Her lessons on strength, forgiveness, and love will be cherished by all who knew her.

Janet's legacy will forever be one of love and loyalty, as she nurtured friendships that spanned decades and weathered life's challenges with grace.
