Janet's obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Janet Bankey, who was born on May 1, 1955, and passed away on September 20, 2025. She was a caring soul who touched the lives of many with her funny, kind, empathetic, and loving personality.
Janet is survived by her beloved husband, Mark, and children; sons Stuart and Philip and daughter Robin. Her greatest joy was her family, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will continue to live in the hearts of those she touched.
Janet had a great love for life and simple pleasures. She was especially fond of southern comfort food and had Dr. Pepper in her veins. Janet loved to lose herself in the melodies of The Monkees, Simply Red, and Pink and was a big fan of John Hughes' movies, especially Pretty in Pink.
She taught us valuable lessons throughout her lifetime, most importantly that 'there is always time to be kind' and humorously, 'there is never enough food at a family gathering.' Janet will be remembered for her generous heart, her kind spirit, and her enormous love for her family.
On October 18, 2025, a Celebration of Life for Janet will be held from 2 to 5 PM at St. Nicholas Hill Country Episcopal Church. All who knew her and were touched by her kindness are invited to join and commemorate her life. RSVPs for her celebration are encouraged.
In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask that you consider making a donation to the Humane Society of San Antonio. Contributions can be made via the URL provided: https://everloved.com/life-of….
We are comforted knowing that Janet's spirit lives on through her family, and the kindness she spread throughout her life continues to touch others. She will be deeply missed but her legacy will forever remain alive in our hearts.
