Jane's obituary

Jane Marshall Rawlins of Dacula, GA, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2023, at the age of 79. She was laid to rest at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Snellville, GA, on Wednesday, May 17. For much of her adult life, Jane was a homemaker, but, after moving to Charlotte, NC, in 1990, she began regularly volunteering at the Harrisburg Elementary School library, where she would eventually work full-time until 2003. In retirement, Jane enjoyed visiting the mountains, watching her grandsons play baseball, and completing the daily crossword puzzle. Friends and family remember Jane as an incredible cook and a devoted wife, mother, and "Two-Mama." A daughter of Beatrix Marshall and Houser Marshall Sr, Jane is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Harold Mack Rawlins, Jr. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and David Strickland of Dacula; daughter and son-in-law, Paula Rawlins and Wesley Anderson of Hamden, CT; son Chris Beacham of Sanford, North Carolina; brother and sister-in-law, Houser Marshall, Jr. and Tere Marshall of Medellin, Colombia; sister, Brenda Webb of Macon; and grandsons, Allen and Luke Strickland, both of Dacula. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Reach Out and Read. A celebration of Jane’s life will be held in Macon, GA, in early July.
