Jane's obituary

Jane Pogue died peacefully at her home in Laguna Woods on March 13 at the age of 94. She is survived by her son, Stephen Carlton, her three daughters, Claudia Blick, Betsy Scanlon and Susie King, eight grandsons, two granddaughters, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Jane grew up in Visalia, graduating from Visalia Union High School in 1944. She attended Stephens College and U.C. Berkeley, where she joined Alpha Chi Omega.

Jane made her home in Exeter and raised her family there. Later in life, she moved back to Visalia to work for her brother as a bookkeeper. When she retired, she moved to Palm Desert, and then later, relocated to Laguna Hills to live with her daughter, Betsy. She spent the last few years residing in Laguna Woods.

Jane had many roles throughout her life. Homemaker, girl scout leader, president of the PTA, Sunday School Teacher and Kindergarten Teacher. Bookkeeper, real estate agent, and member of the Las Madrinas Guild.

Jane loved sewing and playing the piano and was an avid golfer and tennis player. She spent many summers, both as a child and then later with her children, in the local mountains at the family cabin in Doyles.

Jane loved to travel. She visited Tahati, Australia, Mexico, Hawaii, Holland and France. She cruised the Rhine river and the Caribbean, and went through the Panama Canal.
