Jan was a gem in our neighborhood. And I am sure, every where she went. She always had a kind word, or two. Her grace and charm extended to anyone who came in contact with her. She will he remembered and loved.

Jan was truly a beautiful person who deeply cared about her sons , Bob, and nature: I recently in the past year had the pleasure to spend time with her and attend a concert at Lafayette college it was so great to get to know who she truly was. I realized she had so many similarities to my mother, birdwatching , cooking, drinking wine, and being social . My only regret is that I didn’t get with her sooner . She truly touched many in her teaching career . My deepest sympathies to Bob, David, Chris, Jimmy, Karen and all the many people she impacted.

Jan was a beautiful person inside & out. She was kind, caring, & generous. We always enjoyed catching up at family gatherings, church & school activities.

I was sorry to hear of Jan’s passing. I taught with her at the Bangor Jr. High school and we talked many times in the faculty room about plants and our kids. My daughter Alicia graduated with David and he had been in my England class as well. May she rest in peace. 🙏🏻

Kurt and I met Jan and Piper while walking our pup JoJo. Jan was always so lovely, fun and interesting to talk to…we will miss her greatly.

Jan hired me as a math teacher 20 years ago and was the greatest supervisor I’ve ever had. So supportive, wise & compassionate. She truly shaped my career. I’m lucky to have run into her last year & catch up. She was so happy & active in retirement. My condolences for her family.

Jan has been a faithful friend for more than 30 years. We met at a community action meeting when we both lived in Mount Bethel, PA. Through the years and across the many miles she provided support and encouragement for both the celebrations and challenges of life. I especially appreciate the time we spent together in recent years exploring in the southwestern states. I am so grateful for the time we shared. I will miss you deeply, dear friend.

Professor Gebert was one of my most amazing professors during my time at ESU. She inspired us, championed us, and worked so hard to ensure that the new wave of educators were doing their best for their future students. She will forever be missed and forever be loved.

I co-taught with Jan several years ago at ESU and we had the best time together. I learned so much from her and will treasure every memory. My son attended her math camp at Penn State when he was 10 and he loved it. He is now 19 and still remembers Jan and how much fun she was. She was a wonderful teacher and friend.

I am still in a state of disbelief that Jan is no longer here in our physical world. She had so much life to live, and truly lived her life with intention. Jan was such an intelligent, kind, thoughtful woman. The voracity with which she devoured books was incredible!! Jan was also one of the most thoughtful educators in teaching that I'd ever met. I gleaned so much through her sharing about her students, colleagues and administrators through the years! There were so many acts of kindness, thoughtfulness and generosity that she partook in and yet was so humble about it; it was simply "who" she was. Jan has been described as a "Reniassance" woman and she truly was-- whether birding, the Allentown Symphony, the DWG Jazz festival or her analysis of NYT coverage of a political development, she had her finger on the pulse of all that matters to a modern society. I will miss my friend, I will miss our book club dinners, her quirkly silliness and her astute perspective on all things that matter....

We shared many special times together, but I’ll never forget the times two of my children, Allison & David, joined Jan and her boys, David & Chris, at Long Beach Island. Those experiences were priceless and still remembered today.

I'm so sorry for the loss of Jan. I'll always think of her whenever I’m on a walk, remembering how much she enjoyed walking and the conversations we shared during those times together.

The news of Jan’s passing came as a shock. I am so sad. She was full of life and enjoyed so many different things and interacting with so many people. . Jan was a good friend and teaching and supervising buddy at ESU. I found a few photos from events with our student teachers through the years. I will miss spending time with her. Sincere sympathy to Jan’s family. ❤️
