Jamila's obituary
Jamila was born on July 6, 2000 to Leshia and Don Wilson and began an active life in sports from a very early age. Her active life provided her with the opportunity to play volleyball in college where she received scholarships from both Lawson State Community College and Claflin University.
While in college she obtained her Associate’s Degree in Psychology and continued to Claflin University looking to pursue her Bachelor’s in Psychology. She had dreams of becoming a Sports Psychologist and spoke of helping athletes mentally on and off court.
Upon her request the wake will take place December 4 at the house of Essie and Anthony Buckhannon. At the wake she asks that everyone share a memory that reflects your relationship with Ms.Wilson. She would also like for everyone to limit the use of phones during the wake.
The memorial service will take place on December 5th at the Pelham Recreation Center and is hopeful that her teammates and coaches can put together memories to share. She asks that no balloons or items that are not environmentally friendly be released.
Jamila has requested that instead of a funeral her ashes be cremated into a diamond that is kept by her parents.
