Jamie's obituary
Jamie Enoch Gerald Freeman, lovingly known as “Screamin’ Freeman,” passed away on September 23, 2024, in Houghton, Michigan. Born on April 18, 1977, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Jamie lived a life filled with passion, humor, and love, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who knew him.
Jamie graduated from Pius High School and earned a degree in Communications from the University of Wisconsin–Parkside. Over the years, he embraced many roles that highlighted his talents, including working at Fire Station Dispensary, hosting trivia nights, DJing, bartending, and serving as a DJ for WIPZ Parkside. He also worked with Time Warner Cable, showcasing his diverse skills and strong work ethic.
Jamie found joy in life’s simple pleasures—perfecting impersonations, spending time in nature, and crafting the ultimate playlists. Above all, he cherished his role as a father to his daughter, Lo Freeman, whom he considered his proudest accomplishment. Jamie’s love for his community was evident in his involvement with the Black Lives Matter movement and the Big Brother program. His faith in God shaped his kind and compassionate spirit.
Jamie is survived by his beloved daughter, Lo Freeman; his uncle, Jim Chizek; his aunts, Mary Kuklinski and Luanne Wielichowski, also his chosen brother, Joshua Radloff, along with many friends who were like family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carol Freeman; grandparents Gerald and Patricia Freeman and Vernon and Shirley Chizek; his Uncle James Freeman and his cousin, Jeff Wielchowski. His father, Larry Chizek, died approximately two months after Jamie.
Jamie will be remembered as a strong, intelligent, and passionate man who loved deeply and shared his light with those around him. His humor and charm made him the life of the party, and his loyalty and generosity left an enduring impact on those fortunate enough to know him. Jamie was a devoted father, a true friend, and an irreplaceable presence in the lives of many. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
