I am horrified to see on Facebook today, 9/18/24, that my UNM college chum / dance buddy / former coworker / former roommate Jamie Eakins Brudos has passed on. Back then, i went by the nickname, Louie. I had no idea, as I went to her FB profile page to wish her a Happy Birthday. Yegads, now all three Eakins girls are on the other side. I am so very sorry that Jamie has left us. I had no idea she was ill. My condolences especially to her daughters, Gretta and Lylah. I will hold that memory of us all enjoying the Blues Fest in Madrid NM. Before I moved away from NM again, Jamie and I took in some other primo live music around Albuquerque together: Jimmy Vaughn, Tab Benoit. If I can rustle up some photos of us together, I will post them later. Dance on Jamie ...
Lylah and Gretta I know you don't remember me. I knew your mom from years ago before either of you was born. I know your Dad from his sister Rachel, who was my best friend. I met your Mom when they started dating. She was so sweet and kind and we had great conversations. We saw each other at Brudos family gatherings over the years until I moved to Colorado when ya'll were little.  I'm so so sorry for your loss. I know your Mom loved you both so very much.  May you be comforted by the love she has for you still and those who love her..
Thinking of you and praying for you. Your mother was a wonderful person, always kind and a lot of fun.  My sincere condolences, Michelle Perry

Jamie was a wonderful person ❤ and the world is a sadder place without without her in it.
I’m so sad to hear of your loss. Jamie and I grew up together as our parents were teachers at East Grand Plains.  There’s a lot of  fond memories of those days. As teacher’s kids it was like being family.
MAB was an amazing community of learners, teachers, support staff and administration. Jamie was a warm member of this community that welcomed everyone as they were.  Jaime was part of establishing and maintaining that community.  My heart goes out to her girls, all three of you.   She loved you dearly! I remember her telling me his much joy she felt packing your school lunches, chosing each item with love. She loved you girls (Lylah, Greta and Jessica) with all her heart.

I worked with Jamie for close to 9 years at Mary Ann Binford, but most of my memories of her come from the time I spent with her outside of work. Here are a few:

The time she and her sisters and a few other co-workers came over to my house for a Thanksgivng dinner just after my divorce during a year where I didn't have my kids for that holiday.  That meant a lot to me!

Playing on a volleyball team with her and Yvonne Martini and others and having a raucous time week after week with her at the volleyball sports bar at San Mateo and Montgomery (I forget the name of it now).

Going to a party with her at a friend's house in Carnuel, where she broke up a fight that broke out between to big dudes who were going at it. She just walked right between them, and put a stop to it. She could be  fierce when she wanted to.

Jamie was a sweet and beautiful woman with a kind heart. I only have fond and loving memories of her. I hope she is resting peacefully and happy wherever she is.🙏🙏🙏

Jamie is my cousin. She took me to my first concert,  The Dobbie Brothers! She was so cool! She was the family dancer and ballerina. She was kind, sweet and loving. Her and her sisters were my country cousins. I hope they are together again.
I am so sorry for your loss. Jamie and I taught together at Mary Ann Binford Elementary School. Remember all your loving memories. God bless you and your family.

Lylah and Gretta, I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Your mom, was such a beautiful and strong woman—caring, giving, funny, and full of life. Her presence brightened every room she entered, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Please know that she is now pain-free and watching over you with love. I will keep her in my prayers and hold you close in my thoughts during this difficult time.
