Jimmy's obituary

Mr. James William aka “Jimmy” Davis, age 87, of Morganfield, KY passed away peacefully December 22, 2020 at home of natural causes surrounded by family. Jimmy was born May 22, 1933 in Sturgis, KY, and preceded in death by his parents Melvin Vandyke and Lillian Stone Davis and his brother Robert Davis of Ft Stockton, TX and sister, Dorothy Dean Tice of Cheshire Connecticut and his first wife Nyra Carol Davis.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Carolyn Davis and her 2 children, Sherry Bailey(Brian Wallace) and Julie Rudd & husband Joe Bob; and survived by his 3 children Cathy Walls& husband Dennis, Cheri Davis and James “Jeff” Davis& wife Lori Davis; and 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild.
Jimmy was always active in the church and served as a deacon in the Morganfield Christian Church and Sturgis First Christian Church. He was always one that would help others and enjoyed golfing in his later years. He retired from CONSOL Coal Company and worked at Hamilton II mines as a mechanic foreman for many years. He joked about his nick name of “wire around Davis” as he could fix anything. He graduated from Sturgis High School 1951 and led Sturgis Bears to victory many times. He really loved reminiscing about those days.
Graveside service & burial will be held at 1 PM Saturday 12/26 at Pythian Ridge Cemetery in Sturgis, KY.
Bro Jeff Bullock will officiate.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Morganfield Christian Church or St. Anthony’s Hospice.
Pallbearers will be Carson Chambliss, Austin Davis, Joe Bob Rudd, Darius Devore, Josh Walls and Brian Wallace
