How you can help
August 1st 2017 Petrease and James Tatum moved to Statesboro to escape the high cost of living in beautiful California.
Leaving behind there eldest son, daughter in love and 5 grandbabies. Theyre church home and community of over 20 plus years. Upon leaving James received a call that would change his life forever, he was diagnosed with stage 4 throat cancer
Traversing to a new land, with a life threatening diagnosis, the Tatums fully stepped out on faith, trusting the Lord not only for provision, but community and His healing powers.
In time, the Lord enveloped the Tatums with new community through Crossroads Community Church. On Dec 2017, James rang the for his last chemotherapy session beating cancer.
Over the course of the next few years, Petrease and James continued to build community and reaped the benefits of a slower Southerned pace of life.
In 2018, after PSA blood work test determined he had developed prostate cancer, James battled cancer again with treatment and prayer. In December of 2018, he was cleared of his prostate cancer. As of December 2023, he was a 5yr cancer survivour. After having server pain in his abdomen and groin region and the fear of another cancer battle, James made the choice to trust in God for his timing to return to his heavenly home in accordance to Abbas will.
The cancer quickly spread, having fought homelessness, cancer, depression and the loss of his surviving sibling. James yearn to return to his home in heaven.
Our beloved James affectionately called “Dada” fought a good fight of faith and gained his heavenly crown at 3:20 am on Monday April 22nd.
He will be remember by his Statesboro family here in Georgia on Sat May 4th.
We are asking for donations to help

Colossians 1:10 - Father, we thank you that James lived a life worthy of you Lord, and pleasing to You in every way; bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of You.
