Jim's obituary

James Harvey Stone, 80 years old, of Gilbert, Arizona, passed away on December 5, 2020, after a tiresome battle with Parkinsons.

Jim was born on March 28th, 1940, to parents Wayne and Frances Stone, in Pocatello, Idaho. After graduating from Pocatello High School in 1958, where he played Varsity Football under Coach John Evans whom he greatly admired, he went on to serve four years in the US Air Force. Upon his discharge, he studied communications and played football at Idaho State University.

After graduation, Jim was employed as a communications specialist for several large firms during his career. Jim married Jan Herod, and together they had two children, Jeff and Gena. Many years later, Jim and Jan divorced. Later, he was fortunate to meet Lynn Burr at a Banner Neuro Wellness event where they attended various sessions for Parkinsons therapies. Jim and Lynn married shortly after they met.

Jim was a kind person that didn't know a stranger. He was extremely proud of his children, and supported them in all of their endeavors, whether it was sitting in the bleachers watching Gena cheer and Jeff play football, or coaching various teams over the course of their youth.

Jim became very passionate for health and fitness in his later years, and even became a certified personal trainer after he retired from his telecommunication career. Although he physically struggled with Parksinsons, Jim stayed positive and active with boxing, singing, and even took up drawing portraits of just about everyone he knew.

Anyone who knew Jim knew that he was a loving father, husband, and friend. He is survived by his brother Robert, sister Lani, wife Lynn, daughter Gena, son Jeff, and grandchildren Katie, Derek, Izzy, and Cece.
