James's obituary
James ( Jim ) Casey passionately loved life, his family, friends, clients and co-workers. He left us way too soon while mountain biking in Tahoe. Jim unexpectedly suffered an aortic dissection. His energy, spirit, kindness and love of adventure inspired all who knew him. Jim made friends wherever he went and made it a point to stay in touch with those the loved. His passing has left a painful void.
Jim was born in New York and lived there briefly before his parents moved back to California. He was the third child born to Ernestine ( Ernie ) and Donald Casey. Jim lived in Palo Alto, California with his parents, his sister Sharon and brothers Mike and Richard until he graduated from Henry M. Gunn Senior High School in 1976. He then earned his bachelor's degree in journalism from California State University Long Beach in 1980. After graduating from college, Jim began a job in Port Gibson, Mississippi at the Grand Gulf Nuclear Power Station. He was later transferred to Florida, where he met his wife Marianne. They moved to Hull, Massachusetts and ultimately to Scottsdale, Arizona. Jim and Marianne had two sons, James Jr and Kevin. Jim was thrilled to become a grandfather last year to Lucine Casey. He was looking forward to teaching her how to snow ski.
Later in life, Jim married Evelyn and moved back to northern California. Jim loved his vacation house in Tahoe City, California. It was his happy place where he spent much time swimming, paddle boarding, hiking, mountain biking and snow skiing. He made many new friends in Tahoe, his second home. Jim also worked hard to take care of his clients as a long time senior financial advisor for Merrill Lynch. A great many of his clients became close, long time friends as well.
Jim is survived by his wife, Evelyn Casey, his ex-wife Marianne Casey, his sons James Casey Jr and Kevin Casey, his step children Cassandra, Juliana and Parker Snipes, his brothers Michael and Richard Casey and his granddaughter Lucine Casey. Jim is predeceased by his father Donald Casey, his mother Ernestine Casey and his sister Sharon Casey.
A celebration of life service will be held on November 4th at The North Tahoe Event Center, 8318 N Lake Blvd, Kings Beach, CA 96143 from 1:00 to 4:00pm.
