Our prayers for strength to all of the Harrisons.  Distance may have been between us, but know that Stanley was always in our hearts.

Flower

Send flowers

Share your sympathy. Send flowers from a local florist to James's family or funeral.
I knew your Dad, Grandpa, first as a seventh grade teacher at St. Matthew Lutheran School in N Y City.  We started at the same time-I taught first grade. Our faculty was like a small family. And James was such a joy to know. An excellent teacher, a great sense of humor, and so many stories from his time in Sierra Leone with the Peace Corp. He taught there one year but kept in touch with us turns out that we both lived in the Portland area.  We had coffee and pie at the Shari’s Pie. It was fun to re-connect. And we re-connected via Zoom with other teachers from that time.  We planned to reconnect but things got in the way.  And so our lunch didn’t happen. I still remember his smile, which never aged, and his ability to be present with you as you met. He told me that coffee and pie day about his family.  And it was obvious how much he loved all of you. God’s blessing of comfort and love to you all.
My name is Huger Ford, your father’s 1st cousin and I’m so sorry for your loss…praying God’s strength during this time of grief.
My name is John Stanley your husband/father is my 1st cousin and I was named after him. I am sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time.
So sorry to hear about your loss I live with Stanley and willie when I was in ny my name is Fred His 1st cousin SO SORRY- God Bless

James was an awesome father, husband, and brother-in-law. His knowledge and wisdom were excellent. Always thought out before expressing himself.

Truly what Our Lord taught us to be.  He put my sis and family  first. I'm sure he had his trials, but always persevered.  A true character of what all of us should practice....

Unconditional love.

You are home my friend, rest in peace...

Please put a good word in for me...

You all have my deepest sympathy at the loss of your husband, father and grandfather. James was a wonderful mentor, department chair and fellow instructor. He was inspiring as an instructor and generous with his wisdom. His work has been picked up and carried on at PCC in ways he may not even have thought possible when he began, particularly around issues of race and racism, and the understanding of African and African-American communities.
