Jim's obituary
Jim Sprinkle went home to be with his Savior on July 5, 2022 after a brave battle against pancreatic cancer.
Jim was born February 25, 1947 in Tell City, Indiana to Martha and Marshie Sprinkle. He was the 2nd born in his family of six boys on the family farm including his five brothers, Bob, Paul, Dale, John, and Dan.
He graduated Tell City High School in 1965 where he lettered in four sports; football, baseball, basketball, and track. He set many records as running back for his football team and received an athletic scholarship to play football at Western Kentucky University, where he meet his bride Phyllis.
After graduating from WKU, Jim worked for the Browning Arms Company for many years, which was a perfect fit for him since he was an avid outdoorsman with a natural salesmanship.
In 1976, Jim and Phyllis moved to Florida and made their home in Seminole County.
In the early 1990’s, Jim took on the role as the booster club president for Lake Brantley High School in Altamonte Springs, where he successfully helped raise money for the athletic program. Jim spearheaded the fundraising and building of the Olympic size swimming pool and field house at Lake Brantley that now bears his name: The James M. Sprinkle Aquatic Center.
Jim was a visionary entrepreneur. In 1996, while he was removing stadium seats from Atlanta Fulton County Stadium for the LBHS football stadium, he noticed all of the upper deck seats were not being removed. His idea to remove those seats and sell them to other high schools in need of affordable seats was brought to life. He called his brother Dale and together they founded S&S Seating. Over the last 20+ years they built S&S Seating into the premier memorabilia and used stadium seats provider, partnering with many MLB & NFL teams across the country.
Jim thoroughly enjoyed people. He was quick to tell stories that would have everyone laughing. He was a man’s man, a good friend, and had a magnetic personality. His passions were fine wine, golf, and planting beautiful flowers. Every holiday season he would assemble his Christmas Village, which would take four days and took up half the dining room. His attention to detail left his grandchildren in awe. His grandchildren were a source of great joy for him. Jim was always a country boy at heart, he loved nature and in the mountains in their 2nd home in Highlands, NC.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, of 52 years; three children and their spouses: David (Christy), Beth (Tom Beagles), and Melissa (Sam Brown); his eight grandchildren, (Olivia, Reagan, Amelia, Lyla, Colette, Cecily, Wesley, and Sadie); and 4 of his brothers (Paul, Dale, John, Dan).
Jim is preceded in death by his parents Marshie and Martha, and his older brother Robert.
Funeral Mass services will be held at Annunciation Catholic Church in Altamonte Springs on August 12th at 10:00 AM. Live Stream: https://youtu.be/h4tC4zmLVoU
