James's obituary
James “Nunya” Robert Soletski, 75 passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, with family at his side. He was born at St Mary’s Hospital in Green Bay on October 7, 1948, to the late John and Caroline (Jacklin) Soletski. Jim grew up in New Franken and was a graduate of Preble High School. He attended and graduated from UW Stevens Point with a bachelor’s degree in education. Jim was employed by Zuider Zee Supper Club and later held positions with E. R. Gasser Associates, Nuclear Eng. and Wis. Public Service, Kewaunee Nuclear Energy Plant as a Senior Analyst. Jim was a devout Democrat and served his party to the fullest. From 2007 -2011 he was a Wis. State Assemblyman, 88th District for two terms. He was the Local, State and National representative for Al-Anon, and a longtime member and leader of JOSHUA a social justice group. Another organization Jim was fond of was the Shit house Gang – a very loose and fun group of friends who grew up with Jim in New Franken, and Preble High School friends. According to Jim, he got the nick-name Nunya because when someone asked him a question, he would respond with, “Nunya Damn business.” Jim will be missed for his quick wit, empathy, and service to others.
Jim will be sadly missed by his daughters, Steffany Soletski and beloved grandson, Parker James and Erica Soletski and grandpup, Smokey; his siblings, Claudia (Don) C. VandenHeuvel, Randall (Sandra) J. Soletski, Richard (Daniel Young) A. Soletski, and Marcia Kay Carlson; nieces and nephews, Cheryl Skenandore, John H. Soletski, Joseph Soletski, Dawn Soletski, Randall Soletski Jr., Lynnea Wilson, Scott VandenHeuvel, and Carla VandenHeuvel; aunt, Geraldine Turriff and sister-in-law, Jane Soletski. Jim will be remembered by countless other family, friends, and acquaintances.
In addition to his parents Jim was preceded in death by his ex-wife and best friend, Michaelene Soletski, his brother, John F. Soletski; sister, Leanne M. Duncan; and a brother-in-law, Bruce Carlson.
