Jim's obituary

On Saturday, April 3, 2021, Jim Shipman, loving father of two children and two grandchildren passed away at age 66.

Jim was born on December 25, 1954 in Long Beach, California to Joyce and Doyle Shipman. He graduated from Millikan High School in 1973 and continued on to work as a flight attendant for over 20 years with TWA and American Airlines. After that he worked for Fred Meyer for almost 20 years until he retired in 2020. He helped raise his son and daughter Chad and Samantha, along with spoiling his two granddaughters Emma and Ella.

Jim had a generous soul and kind heart that he would open up to anyone he met. He loved telling stories about his life and was blessed to meet many people that became friends through his travels as a flight attendant and a manager at Fred Meyer. Jim always had a passion for being out on the water on a canoe or a boat and in his retirement, he purchased a sailboat that he named after his first grandchild Emma Jo. During his one year of retirement he enjoyed spending time out on the water in that sailboat enjoying nature.

Jim was preceded in death by his father Doyle, his mother Joyce, and his brother Rob. He is survived by his two children Samantha and Chad, his brothers Jon and Mel, his sister Pam, and his granddaughters Emma and Ella.
