James's obituary
James Sellick, known as Jim or Jimmy to most, was born December 3, 1944, in Berryville, Arkansas to Richard R. Sellick and Geneva M. McNeill Sellick. He married Linda L. Barnes Sellick on April 9, 1966. Jim left this world at his home in Dothan, Alabama on July 11, 2023, while under the care of Enhabit Hospice.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Geneva Sellick. He is survived by his wife, Linda Sellick; his children, Jane M. Sellick of Atlanta, GA and David R. Sellick of Dothan, AL; as well as his siblings, June E. Sellick O’Connor of Berryville, AR, Eva Mae Sellick Babalis of New York City, NY and Phillip W. Sellick of Berryville, AR. He is also survived by his chosen/adopted family of John Keith Williams and wife Marie of Dothan, AL. His loving caregivers were Lateefah Dunlap and Joseph Thomas who became like family while helping Jim.
As head of the household, Jim provided well for his family and moved several times for different engineering jobs before settling in Dothan, AL in 1977 to work for General Electric. While at GE and in his personal life, he taught co-workers and family to work hard and help others. He believed in the value of doing good works for others.
He accepted Jesus as his savior as a child at the Baptist Church in Berryville, AR and was a long-time member of Pathway Baptist Church in Dothan, AL.
He chose to give the ultimate gift of his body to education and research by participating in the Willed Body Program of Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine (ACOM).
