J.R.'s obituary
James (J.R.) Robert Brown, 67, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, May 6, 2022, at his home in Twin Falls, Idaho. J.R. was born on May 22, 1954, in Nebraska City, Nebraska to Lloyd and Georgia (Leach) Brown.
J.R. was a gifted and prolific singer, songwriter, and musician. Music was his passion and life’s purpose from an early age. He began playing the guitar at 9 years old and then started playing with local bands when he was 13. He wrote/co-wrote over 1800 songs throughout the years, with over 600 listed with BMI. He was preparing to complete his 15th album, “Life at 90 Proof,” before his passing. While he certainly will be remembered for his many musical talents, those who knew and loved J.R. will also remember him for his kind and gentle soul.
He is survived by his long-time soulmate and business partner, Vickie Corgatelli Johansson, of Twin Falls, his children, Danny (Chellsey) Brown of Lincoln, NE, James (Melissa) Brown of Seward, NE, April (Jarod) Adams of Newman Grove, NE, ten grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and brother.
J.R. said it best in his song, Ain’t Coming Back:
“Adios to the past, said goodbye to my friends. It sure was nice, but I ain’t never gonna pass this way again.
And I’m gone, I’m gone long gone, and I ain’t comin’ back. I’m gone like an old freight train rollin’ down the track. I’m gone and I ain’t comin’ back.
We all come to this world, and we leave the same way. Everybody’s gonna leave it, ain’t nobody gonna stay.
But I work real hard and I’m proud of who I am. And all we can do is do the very best we can.
And we’re gone, we’re gone long gone, and we ain’t comin’ back. We’re gone like an old freight train rollin’ down the track. We’re gone and we ain’t comin’ back.”
Everyone who remembers him is asked to celebrate J.R.’s life in their own special way. He will be laid to eternal rest in Mackay, Idaho.
