Jimmy's obituary

James "Jimmy" Regeski, age 60, of Chesterton, Indiana, went to Heaven on Friday, February 2, 2024 having battled lung cancer for the last 1.5yrs. He was born on January 9, 1964, in Hammond, Indiana, to Terry Regeski and Barbara (Belchik) Wajvoda. James is survived by his daughter, Saffron Regeski; partner, Margaret Palmer; sisters, Lisa (Paul Martin) Hedger and Buffy (Steve Kitzler) Wajvoda; brothers, David Regeski and John Wajvoda. He was preceded in death by his father, Terry Regeski; mother, Barbara Wajvoda and sister-in-law, Kristy Regeski.

He was a kind hearted man who volunteered within his community over the years. He was always the first in line to lend a hand to someone in need. His kindness was always evident and shined bright through his smile. James was an outgoing social butterfly, who perfected the ability to fill a room with laughter. His infectious laugh will definitely be missed.

James was driven and self-made. For over 20 years, he proudly owned and operated his own business, Reliable Gutters.

His true joys in life were his family and his daughter, Saffron. Cooking meals together, watching silly reality TV shows, and bonding over music were just some of the ways James and his daughter spent their time with each other. The family Christmases were also a treat. James always looked forward to seeing everyone at the end of the year and the family traditions.

Music was a big part of James’ life. He bonded through music with almost everyone he knew. With an interest in mainly heavy metal, he also indulged in Jazz and Rock. His love for music was evident in his extensive vinyl record collection. Along with music, James also loved concerts, White Sox baseball, Colts football, puzzles, and spending time with friends.

James was so loved and will be truly missed by all who loved him. We were all so blessed to have him in our lives. He never once complained about being sick with cancer. He was a fighter, a lover, and a humble soul.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN 46304. Online condolences may be made to the family at ee-fh.com.
