Tom's obituary
James Thomas Redmond, 71, passed away Saturday evening July 6, 2024. Tom was born in Medford, Massachusetts on December 7, 1952 to James Francis Redmond and Janice Roberta Redmond. He has two siblings: Larry and Mike Redmond. He is survived by his wife Cathy Redmond, daughters Jodi Bacon (husband Jon) and Jennifer Redmond (husband Max), son Ryan Redmond (wife Kacie), and his five grandchildren Olivia, Daxton, Garrett, Tobias, and Sophia. Tom and Cathy recently celebrated their sapphire anniversary on May 26, signifying 45 years of marriage, an accomplishment deeply cherished.
Tom was a lifelong basketball fan finding joy in watching and playing the sport. Some of his other hobbies included gardening, painting, and percussion. Additionally, Tom was deeply curious about outer space and enjoyed conversation related to anything about the cosmos. He was highly skilled in the culinary business with a keen eye for detail. He had an ability to add a small final touch making anything that much more special. Tom was a hard-working individual, never afraid to take risks, leading him to run two successful restaurants that engaged family, friends, and local community members in fond memories of his businesses. Among his proudest accomplishments was his role as Pops to five grandchildren. A glimpse into Tom’s life as a Pops would radiate moments of teaching, cuddling, nurturing, and marveling at their growth. Tom’s life centered on family. He was always there to help in any way he could.
Tom was a loving, devoted husband, father, Pops, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to so many. His smile and sense of humor will be deeply missed.
