James's obituary

After a protracted battle with cancer, James S. Ramsey III peacefully left our world on August 29, 2018 at his home in Flint, MI at the age of 49. He leaves behind his wife, Kelly Ramsey; his daughters, Stephanie and Taylor; his son Blake James and his grand children Braelyn and Avery.
James was born on December 18, 1968 in Flint, MI, to father James S. Ramsey II and mother Joan Ramsey. In high school, he excelled in ice hockey, leaving behind many records still yet unbroken. His passion for the sport is unmatched. James left with us, the first $500 donation, starting a fund to send inner-city underprivileged kids to hockey camp.
James was a driven professional, starting his own charter bus company at the age of 42. He purchased his first bus, Brown Betty, and dedicated himself to the business. Having his own company was a dream that James made tangible. His determination and will are unique, driving his company to success.
When diagnosed with esophageal cancer in 2015, he remained dedicated in his work, family and in his will to fight his illness. He remained a brave, iron-willed man, even throughout his final months. He never complained and was always happy to see a familiar face. A true hero, in many eyes.
James is survived by his wife , children, grand children as well as his mother; sister; brothers; numerous nieces and nephews; great nephews and niece and an entire community of those who loved him. He is preceded in death by his father.
To honor James’ wish, there will be a celebration of life hosted at the American Legion in Swartz Creek, MI on Sunday, September 16, 2018 from 4-7pm. James never met a stranger, as many would say, so please join us for an evening of remembrance and celebration; all are welcome.
The family would especially like to thank Jessica, Lawanda and the Heart to Heart Hospice team for their excellent work and loving care; those who contributed to the success of Northern Star; Corey, Warren and Bill and to all whom supported them during James’ fight. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the fund mentioned above. A contribution box will be available during the celebration.
