Jim Plecker, 69, of Johnson City, TN passed away on Sunday, August 18th. He was a kind man with an ability to befriend all and make everyone feel welcome in his company. He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him.

Friends may join the family in a memorial service in celebration of Jim’s life at their church, the Evangel Church PCA in Alabaster, AL. Reverend Alex Goodsell will officiate. The memorial service will be held at 11am, with visitation starting at 10am, on Thursday, August 22.

Jim was born October 21, 1949 in Harrisonburg, VA to Hugh M. and Maxine Edwards Plecker. Jim graduated from ETSU in 1972 on a track scholarship. He married Jean Miller in 1973. Jim served 6 years in the Marine Corp, during which he participated on the Marine Corp track team, and finished his service as a First Lieutenant. Jim’s career moved them to different areas in the United States and they spent the past 11 years living in Pelham, AL. Jim enjoyed learning everything about US history and researching his family genealogy. Jim and Jean enjoyed their road trips together to visit family and friends. Most of all he loved his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Jean; son, Adam (Joy) Plecker; and sister, Norma (John) O’Flaherty. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Jim’s memorial page at the Samaritan’s Purse website.
