Background
My father, James Parsons, was diagnosed with Chronic Eosinophilic Leukemia in April 2020. While this is already a rare form of cancer, his disease also caused damages to his heart and spread to his colon and bones. There is currently no medical documentation of this type of leukemia spreading in this way without turning into a more aggressive type. Less than two weeks after an emergency, high-risk surgery to remove a bowel obstruction, he died peacefully on May 2, 2021.
My dad was funny, personable and hardworking, but he had a hard time thinking (and planning) for the future. He worked as an independent contractor since he left the AJC in 2009. Because of this, we have struggled to save money for the expenses that come after death. As his condition worsened rapidly, we also were unprepared for a death this soon. Any amount will help us during this time.
