James's obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of James "Jim" O'Reilly on November 15, 2023. Born on January 21, 1959, he lived a life full of love, laughter, and profound respect for others. Although known by many as Jim.
James is survived by his loving wife Barbara O'Reilly, who he married in 2005 and shared his love of card games with. He leaves behind his son, Matt O'Reilly, and step-son, Robert D'Amato. His legacy will continue through his two grandchildren, Jack O'Reilly and Adelynn Sadusky, who he adored immensely. He is also survived by siblings Joan Parsons, Lori EVERIN, Maureen O'Reilly, and Jack O'Reilly. Jim had two other grandsons Austin and Zayden O'Reilly but missed out on a large portion of their lives, at no fault of theirs, nor their Papa's.
James was predeceased by his sister Rita Woychik, his mother Lorraine O'Reilly, and his father John O'Reilly.
A graduate of Rockville High School, Vernon, CT, in 1977, he led a fulfilled life in various parts of the country, making homes in Colorado in 2000, Vernon, CT in 2016, and Florida in 2012. However, his heart truly belonged to his favorite vacation spots, Colorado and Maine.
He was a lover of all things simple yet enjoyable, including his favorite song "Ripple" by the Grateful Dead, the movie "The African Queen", and Bud Light. As a Green Bay Packers fan, he encapsulated the 'Go Pack Go' spirit, showing a deep love for football. His legacy will live on through his favorite joke - one that reflects his sheer love for 'really bad dad jokes', which brought laughter in abundance.
James had a hard, caring, loving, and respectful personality. He was passionate about animals, especially his rescue Boxer, Ethel, and his loyal Boxer English Bulldog, Jack, who has since passed. His favorite color was red, symbolizing his strong and vibrant character. The greatest lesson he shared with us was rooted in respect, and he lived it at every step.
His greatest accomplishments, as he would reckon, were his wife Barbie and his grandson Jack. James was an avid fisherman and hunter who loved camping and spending quality time with his family. His passion for these recreational activities was only matched by his fondness for food of all kinds.
James will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of love, respect, and his unique sense of humor will continue to shine in our hearts.
