James's obituary

James E. Norstrom (Jim) 81 of Tucson, AZ passed away with family by his side on December 3, 2023. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 30, 1942 to the late Eugene and Louise Norstrom. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Patricia Honeycutt and great grandson Emmett Crouse and was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.

Jim was a gregarious man who cherished his family and friends and adored his wife of 55 years, Anita. Jim once said his life truly began the day he met Anita and they began raising their six children together in Chicago and moved to Cary, Illinois in the late 1970’s. He was a devoted father to his children David(Sandy) Honeycutt, Donna Corder, Diane (John) Dunne, Susan (Scott) Buziecki, Sandra (Claudio) Garcia, and a loving grandfather to Sarah(Dave) Fornear, Sean(Maddie) Corder, Nicole (Andrew) Crouse, Richele (Cole) Stegall, Paige (Edgar) Garcia, Taylor Dunne, Joshua Dunne, Mackenzie Nance, Jackson Nance, Claudia Garcia, Chloe Garcia and Benjamin Garcia. He also had the joy of being a great-grandfather to Henry, Hudson, Harrison, Levi and Betsy.

Jim will be remembered for his warm smile and laugh, friendly disposition, and his ability to make everyone feel special. He loved spending time coaching and watching his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting endeavors and he had a passion for spending time with his family camping, boating and creating lasting memories. He was an avid gardener who took pride in his plants and also enjoyed watching auto racing, parades and sporting events, especially the Chicago Bulls, Bears and Blackhawks.

Jim served in the Air National Guard, proudly contributing to the defense of the nation. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, and a brother of the Masons of Illinois Hesperia Lodge #0411. He was a generous man who donated to the Moose and other charities.

In his professional life, Jim was a skilled craftsman, who worked as a dot etcher for a printing company, working to correct many photos including Marshall Fields ads. He was a member of the Graphic Communications International Union.

Jim was a member of Gladstone Lutheran Church in Chicago, Illinois where he found solace and strength in his faith.

A celebration of Jim’s life will take place in the future to honor his memory and the impact he had on the lives of those around him.

Jim Norstrom will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love kindness, and joy will continue to inspire those who knew him for years to come.
