James's obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of James "Duke" Newcomb, who departed this life on December 2, 2024. Born on March 5, 1968, James, fondly known as Duke, lived his life in service to others and with a spirit of resilience that inspired all who knew him.

James is survived by his daughters, Michelle Hardeway and Ashley Newcomb; his son, Kristopher Newcomb; his wife, Lori Newcomb; and his grandchildren, Virgil, Traci, Dante, Cassian, Alyse Hardeway, and  Mikah Newcomb, and  He leaves behind his sisters, Gina Hein and Julianne Newcomb. He is predeceased by his parents, Ernest Dean Newcomb and Sandy Tate.

James embarked on a professional journey with Allied Barton in 2012, a position that saw him marrying his beloved wife, Lori Newcomb, in 2024. He became a father for the first time in 1991, a joy he would experience twice more in 1994 and 1996.

Known for his infectious sense of humor, James had a particular fondness for the Squirt drink, cheered for the Redskins, and enjoyed playing Sniper Elite. One could often find him watching the Redskins play football, a testament to his unwavering team spirit. Reflecting his calm demeanor, his favorite color was blue.

While James' passing is a profound loss, his lessons of protecting and helping others, and always trying no matter the difficulty, endure. His legacy—a blend of kindness, shared laughter, and remarkable tales—will never be forgotten.
