James's obituary
James “Jimmy” Anthony Morrissey, age 40, passed away on January 2, 2026. He was born on July 21, 1985, in Dayton, Ohio.
Jimmy was a loving father, a gifted storyteller, and a man whose humor and charm left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Known for his quick wit and undeniable gift of gab, he could strike up a conversation with anyone and make them feel at ease. Those qualities served him well throughout his career, as he spent much of his working life in hospitality and more recently in sales. He excelled in many roles through his personality, persistence, and people skills.
Jimmy was a 2003 graduate of Tecumseh High School. In 2014, he earned his Associate of Science in Business Administration and Management.
Jimmy was a Steelers fan and had an eclectic taste in music that spanned all genres. He not only loved to cook, but had a gift for preparing sensational dishes. He enjoyed naps and cuddles with his four-legged best friend Ruby, as well as his and Kayla’s cats – Jaq, Parker, and Carmen.
Above all else, Jimmy loved his daughter Isabelle “Izze” Renee Morrissey and son James Anthony Morrissey II, who he is survived by. His children were the center of his world and his greatest source of pride and joy.
He is also survived by his sister, Jamie Morrissey; his nephews, Evan and Ethan McAllister; his nieces, Olivia Morrissey and Bailey Pierce; his longtime significant other, Kayla Schaub; and close cousins — Brandi Milliner, Chris Morrissey, Charles Mitchell, David Morrissey, Brittani Clagg, Stevie Davis, and Traci Frankovich — all of whom held a cherished place in his life. He is also survived by a large extended family and countless friends who will miss his laughter, stories, and larger‑than‑life presence.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, James F. Morrissey Jr.; his mother, Amy Holman; his grandmother, Janis Morrissey, who was like a mother to him and held a very special place in his heart; his aunt, Kathleen Morrissey; his aunt, Violet "Chich" Peaco; his grandmother, Marilyn Trebnik; and his great‑grandmother, Bernice Nagy.
Jimmy will be remembered for his humor, his warmth, and his ability to make people smile. His memory will live on through those who loved him and the many lives he touched.
A Celebration of Life will be held in March, with arrangements currently being finalized by the family. Those wishing to honor Jimmy's memory are encouraged to do so in a way that reflects his love for connection, laughter, and family.
