James's obituary

James Kevin Moree Sr., 66, of  Grove Hill, Alabama passed on to Heaven December 16, 2021 after a hard fought battle for almost a month in ICU.  Born in Columbia, Mississippi to the late Beno and Doris Foster Moree, Kevin was a character- a unique, one of a kind combination of both of his parents that never met a stranger and could break out in a moments notice in song with an Elvis impersonation. He was the youngest son and raised with four other siblings on a farm that instilled good hard work ethics and an appreciation for what he had. Kevin would carry this work ethic and his mechanical aptitude into a long and successful career in the paper making industry. He was an excellent trouble shooter that loved people and teamwork. He was a great motivational speaker and encourager, having the ability to get folks all on board.  One of his favorite sayings was "there are people who watch things happen, there are people who make things happen, and finally there are those people that wonder what just happened?" Kevin worked his way up from an entry level paper machine job at 18 to various management and superintendant positions across the country while providing for his family.  He was also a consultant that traveled the world during the latter part of his career and would share many stories with his family and his appreciation for America. Not everyone knew- but Kevin also loved to cook. Kevin loved soul food and smoking meat in his spare time when he wasn’t busy building things and coming up with ideas. He also played the heck out of the harmonica like both of his parents did and wasn't shy with it!  He brought his family much joy with all of his music creating many wonderful memories.  Kevin was tough, hard working and never quit.  He believed you never failed until you quit trying.  He believed in helping people for nothing, just so people would believe there was still good in the world.  He believed in Jesus and was saved and baptized in a creek in south Mississippi with his children when he was younger, and later rebaptized when older again in his pond.  Kevin married his high school sweetheart, Janell Edwards Moree.  He affectionately called her "Blue" for her unusual beautiful blue eyes and she believed in him. They were married almost 49 years and had three children together:  Michelle Moree Pezent (John),  the late James Kevin Moree II, and Janell Annette Moree.  They also have two grandchildren- Zachariah Cole Gregson and Rachael Maria Gregson whom Kevin loved and enjoyed very much.  He was a strong, kind, loving, and supportive father and grandfather.  His bulldog tenacity, knowledge and can-do attitude was the foundation of his family.  Kevin was indeed one of those people that made things happen and will be missed everyday and loved for eternity.  Along with his parents and son, he was predeceased by his beloved older brother, Sim Ed Moree and dear nephew, Furl Moree.  Kevin leaves behind his wife, two children, two grandchildren and three siblings:  Brothers Ben “Noonie” Moree and John N. Moree Sr., and younger sister Carla Moree Whitfield (John), along with more  family. No services will be held at this time and will be announced later. The family requests donations in liu of flowers to help with accrued medical expenses and bills.

“For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.” ~Revelations 7:17
