Sweetest Jim, you were the very first friend I made when I arrived in CA, all the way from MI! We had a blast tailgating at a Grateful Dead  show up north and your invitation to stay with you and your friends in SB/Isla Vista led to many wonderful lifelong friendships and great memories! You were always so cheerful and full of life and I will never forget that! Sending your family peace and strength during this time.

I want to express my sincerest sympathy to the Modesitt family. I was friends with Big Jim and have fond memories of him. His life is one worth living, one lived well. A man of honor and dignity. We can never forget such a wonderful person, and we know that we should be happy for all the good times we shared with Big Jim. A great person has left us and although he is no longer with us, we keep his memory in our hearts. Regardless of his young age he showed us that he was a very dedicated person who had achieved their goals in life and always had some others in mind. He was the greatest father who loved and cherished his family with his whole heart. His departure is a great loss. Rest in Peace my friend.
