James's obituary

James E. Middlebrooks, affectionately known as “Face”, entered this life on April 5, 1953, to the care of John E. Middlebrooks Sr. and Delores Merriweather in Saint Louis, Missouri. From the very beginning, James carried himself with a spirit that was cool, calm, and confident — a presence that left a mark on everyone he met.

James grew up in East Saint Louis, Illinois where he attended East St. Louis Sr. High School and was known for his charming demeanor. He came from a close-knit family where love, laughter, and strong values shaped who he became.

He was blessed with 3 siblings John (Carlene) Jr., Rodney, and Rosemarie and always carried a deep sense of pride in his family roots. When growing up, he could be outside playing with his friends, but as soon as he smelled his mama’s cooking, he was right at the door. He never missed one of his mama’s home cooked meals.

He had a love for Cadillacs and movies. His smile and laughter could light up any room, while his calming spirit ensured that everyone always had a great time In his presence.

Over the years, James retired from the IronWorkers Union (Local 392) where he was respected for his work ethic and reliability. He took pride in what he did and gave his best in every role he held.

James joined Regina Middlebrooks In holy matrimony on June 3rd, 1989.

James was the proud father of three beautiful children: Jermaine (Kantia) Perkins, Kimberly (Chris) McBride, Jaime (Breawne) Grier-Middlebrooks. He loved his children deeply and spoke often of how proud he was of each one of them.

He also leaves behind his wife Regina, 3 children, 8 grandchildren, and one great grandchild, all of whom will carry his legacy forward through their love, laughter, and strength.

As we celebrate his homegoing, we find comfort in knowing that James is resting easy now — no more worries, no more pain — just peace, love, and eternal rest in the arms of the Lord.
