James's obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of James Michael "Bubba" Perkins, who departed from our world on December 25, 2023. Born on June 15, 1988, James,  known as Bubba to his siblings, was a force to be reckoned with. He was as fierce as he was peaceful. He had a huge heart and was always ready to fight for what he believed in, he always won every fight too. He was a man of his word and a man of God and he believed that the good Lord would welcome him home one day.

James was the true definition of a handyman, he got that from our Dad. He had a love for working on vehicles, he was a mechanic and well that man could fix anything with wheels or a motor. Anything really, there wasn’t much he couldn’t fix. His love for motorcycles and fast cars was something he was very proud of. If he wasn’t fixing up cars he was tattooing. James had an art for tattoos and was always ready to hit your skin with some new ink. He loved to draw and create sketches for new tattoo work.

Family was another thing that James was very proud of. His love for his mama was unwavering. He was a mama’s boy at heart and there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for her. He would do anything for anyone really but mama came first. He was a proud father to his son Zane and a proud Bubba to his siblings and many nephews and nieces and cousins. He helped strangers and friends and family and he did it happily. There wasn’t ever a time we couldn’t call him. I remember calling him in the middle of night because I was scared and he showed up in 5 minutes at my doorstep at 3am and stayed with me until I felt safe. When our mama passed on he was completely heartbroken and lost his way a little bit but I believe in my heart he is up in Heaven reunited with mama and they’re both looking down on all of us. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for the ones he loved. That’s something I will never forget.

James is survived by his father Daniel Fike, siblings Crystal Rhae Perkins, Stephanie Dawn Fike, Brandon Douglas Fike and Breanna Perkins, his son Zane Bowles and many nephews and nieces and several cousins who will all hold his memory close in the wake of this tragic loss. James is predeceased by his mama Sandra Lynn Mitchell Fike, grandmother Edna Mae Petrosky Mitchell, and grandfather Martin Dominguez. A memorial service in honor of James will be held on February 24, 2024, at 6:00pm-8:00pm at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton Texas where he grew up.

Those who knew James best will remember him for his hilarious, protective, silly, generous, and family-oriented personality. He was a beacon of light in the lives of everyone around him, providing laughter and joy even in the face of adversity. James had a strong belief in family unity, often preaching..

"Never give up on family, we’re all we’ve got."

The legacy that James leaves behind is that of a hardworking man, filled with a love for life and family. He will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him, and his spirit will continue to inspire.
