January 27, 1948 – June 1, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of James Michael Foster on June 1, 2025, at the age of 77, in St. Albert, Alberta. Jim passed away quietly in his sleep, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and faith.
James will be lovingly remembered by his devoted children: James Foster, Leanne Foster (Ahmed), Wayne (Kim) Regnier, and Donna Termul. His memory will also live on through his grandchildren: Kellan, Josh, Brett, Brady, Taylor, Jaemen, and Gaber, as well as his great-grandchildren: Kia, Lola, Rylea, Cash, Mateo, Clarity, Ava, and the joyful news of another great-grandchild on the way.
He is also survived by his beloved sister, Marguerite, and nephews Patrick and Donnie.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, George and Clara; his ex-wife, Carol; granddaughter Megan; grandson Breen; and son-in-law Larry Termul.
Born in High Prairie, AB, on January 27, 1948, to George Foster (Port Arthur, Ontario) and Clara (nee Sinclair) (Slave Lake, Alberta), Jim grew up in the west end of Edmonton before settling in Slave Lake to start his family and a taxi company.
Known to many as “Huggy Bear”, Jim was a passionate disciple of Jesus Christ. His faith was at the center of his life, and he was proud to have personally led thousands of people to the Lord. Jim’s life was one of service, kindness, and generosity. Whether over a cup of coffee or during one of his many rides as a taxi driver or school bus driver for special needs students, Jim’s door was always open for a conversation, a joke, or a listening ear. His kind nature made an impression on everyone he met.
Jim’s passion for people extended to his work as a taxi owner and driver, where he formed lasting connections with people from all walks of life. He loved to travel, attend church and Bible studies, go out for dinner, and socialize over coffee. His love of music filled his home, with favorites ranging from oldies and gospel to his favorite singer, Elvis Presley.
Jim’s absence will be profoundly felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His warmth, humor, and unwavering faith have left a lasting impact on his family, friends, and community.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff at Foyer Lacombe for their exceptional care and kindness.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Salvation Army St. Albert 165 Liberton Drive on June 16th 1pm
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the St. Albert Sturgeon Hospice Association.
