I read today that my good friend Jim had passed away, and this is a very sad time for me. Jim and I were roommates for two years at Bowling Green, and during that time I felt very fortunate to know such a special person. I could always count on him to be loyal and supportive no matter what problems we were facing.
As Anne writes in her beautiful tribute to her dad, my future wife and I were the ones who set up Jim and Sue for the blind date our senior year. Jim was immediately smitten that first meeting, and from that point on they were inseparable.
The four of us had a great senior year going to football games, local sing-along-bars, coffee houses, and parties. Sue and Jim were our closest friends. When Sue died at such a young age, it was a very difficult time for us, and now we have lost my great friend.
I was honored to be in Jim and Sue’s wedding, and I will never forget watching him fall in love with that beautiful, dark-haired sorority girl. Thank you Anne for your touching portrait of one of my favorite people. I have never had friends again like the friends I had in college. Rest in peace my Phi Tau brother. I know that you are now re-united with the love of your life!

I met Jim while he and my first cousin Susan were dating. He adored Susan and then his daughter. Always a high achiever who put his family first. I visited them in NYC on several occasions and he was always a gracious host.
My husband and I are sending prayers and love to the family. 🙏🏻💗
