James's obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to James M. Davis, devoted father, husband, brother, grandfather and friend who passed on March 26, 2025. Born on November 24, 1948, his life was characterized by kindness and compassion. A man of unwavering integrity, James' memory will continue to inspire those who knew him.
Jim was a devoted family man who lived life to the fullest. He was an avid fisherman, outdoor enthusiast, sports fan and beach lover. Jim grew up in Ridgewood, NJ and attended Saint Joseph's High School in Montvale. He later graduated from Providence College in Rhode Island and remained an avid fan of the PC Friars as well as the New York Yankees and Washington Redskins. He moved back to New Jersey shortly after college where he met his wife Patricia and raised his family in the very same house in NJ that he was raised in. Volunteered as an EMT ambulance driver and later he enjoyed a successful, long career in sales of telecommunication equipment for aviation and transportation at Motorola.
As a father, his kids meant everything to him and it is reflected currently in his children's love for their own kids. He is survived by his wife Patricia Davis and children James (Sara) Davis, Susan (Ryan) McNair, Allison (Jeff) Miles and Brian (Jamie) Davis. James is also survived by his siblings Virginia Wissel, Diane Polhemus, Nancy Tooley, Dorothy Rocks and his late brother Richard Davis. James' legacy of love is carried on by his 13 grandchildren Hannah Davis, Delilah Davis, James Davis, Lily McNair, Molly McNair, Finn McNair, Keane McNair, Matthew Miles, Blair Miles, Natalie Miles, Emma Rose Miles, Kinsley Davis and three week old Lennon Davis. He spent many of his summers fishing Loughborough Lake in Ontario Canada with his family as well as enjoying the sunshine of Long Beach Island.
Although the later years of his life were affected by a stroke, he continued to fight and persevere for many years with a positive attitude and outlook. Always with a smile on, he was constantly happy to see a familiar face and could always be counted on for a cheerful conversation. His memory will continue on through all the many friends and extended family members whose lives he impacted.
A mass to celebrate his life will be held at: Mount Carmel Church at 1 Passaic Street in Ridgewood, NJ on Friday April 4th at 10:30am. A celebration of life will take place directly after from 12pm-2pm at the Glen Rock Inn at 222 Rock Road in Glen Rock, NJ.
